Should I use a Resistive Touchscreen?

Resistive is one of the common touchscreen technologies in the world.

 

Resistive touchscreen monitor contains a glass panel, a film screen on the outer side, each covered with a thin metallic layer, separated by a narrow gap. The film screen normally made with polyester.

 

When a user touches the screen, the two metallic layers make contact, resulting in electrical flow. The point of contact is detected by this change in voltage.

 

There are pros and cons for PCAP technology.

Pros:

Can be activated with any object.

Has tactile feel naturally.

Extremely cheap.

Low power consumption

Works perfect when facing dust, oil, grease, and moisture.

Cons:

The image clarity is low

Outer polyester film is vulnerable to damage from scratching, poking and sharp objects.
